INTRADA Dangerous Goods delivers automatic detection and reading of ADR danger signs. As such INTRADA Dangerous Goods is an essential part in intelligent traffic systems monitoring the transport of dangerous goods on the road. The easy setup of INTRADA Dangerous Goods makes both fixed and mobile statistical data collection possible. Combined with INTRADA ALPR for automatic license plate reading, it allows for automatic law enforcement, surveillance and security applications.

Vehicles that transport dangerous goods on the road have to comply with the United Nations Economic Commission for European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (commonly referred to as the 'ADR'). These regulations prescribe the attachment of orange danger signs. The signs contain a danger code and a UN number that identifies the dangerous good being transported. INTRADA Dangerous Goods detects the orange danger signs and reads both codes. Also empty danger signs are detected.

INTRADA Dangerous Goods utilizes the same flexible interface as INTRADA ALPR. This accommodates for the easy handling of varying imaging conditions and allows for flexible trade-offs between high yield recognition, low error rates, processing time, and recognition confidence. The INTRADA Dangerous Goods add-on is available on different platforms like Windows (NT, 2000, XP), Windows CE (for hand-held devices), UNIX (HP, Sun, QNX) and Linux.

ALPR and foreign plates

INTRADA Dangerous Goods requires no additional setup. As soon as the Dangerous Goods add-on is installed, INTRADA ALPR will also automatically detect and read the ADR danger signs.

Simultaneous recognition of ADR and foreign number plates

INTRADA Dangerous Goods has no special requirement with respect to the imaging equipment and can operate on both color and grayscale video input. The simultaneous reading of ADR signs and foreign license plates is possible.
