Multiple Parking Areas
INTRADA Parking facilitates the division of a parking facility into multiple
areas. Access to these areas is granted based on a vehicles licence plate.
Our Company Parking Facility
case (written in dutch) describes how INTRADA Parking has been used to divide
a large company parking into multiple areas. On this page we highlight some
interesting aspects of this case.
Parking: side view
The company parking facility
The parking facility at the head office of a large insurance company has
been equipped with licence plate based access control. This solution has been
realised using INTRADA Parking software, installed in cooperation with Initial
Varel.
One area within the parking is to be used by company visitors and neighbours
(Area 0), the other areas are to be used by employees. The reserved areas
(Area 1, 2 and 3) are separated from Area 0 by barrier gates.
Access to the parking facility as well as the internal areas is controlled
by gates in combination with licence plate recognition.
Camera 1: Speedgate entrance
The licence plate of a vehicle approaching the entrance is checked with a
white-list of registered vehicles. In case the vehicle has access permission,
the speedgate will open and the driver can enter the parking facility.
Drivers of vehicles that are not allowed to enter can use the intercom ('int')
to contact the company's reception desk.
Camera 2: Speedgate exit
Camera 2: Speedgate exit
When a vehicle approaches the exit of the parking facility, its licence plate
will be read. The counter for the area it was parked in will be adjusted to
assure correct vehicle counting per area.
The speedgate is opened; the vehicle leaves the parking facility.
Internal areas
Area 1, 2 and 3 are areas inside the parking, separated by a barrier gate.
Just as at the entrance, access is granted or denied based upon the vehicles
licence plate.
Due to the great similarity between the internal areas, only the passage
to Area 3 will be discussed on this page.
The passage to Area 3 has a slight ascending slope. The camera looks down
over the barrier, expecting the front side of a vehicle. This camera position
can have negative side effects, like headlights shining straight into the
camera and blockage of the view on the licence plate. These effects have been
dealt with by the INTRADA software and camera settings.
