The ALPR library supports visualization of function call results. This functionality
can be used to tune recognition settings to obtain optimal performance.
On this page we give an example of performance issues visualized using INTRADA
ALPR Library function calls.
Performance improvement using an Area of Interest
The images in the right column have been created using ALPR library visualization
functionality. Acquired images give insight in the recognition process and
can be used to obtain performance improvements.
The first image shows recognition results without an area of interest having
been set. The nine yellow boxes indicate potential plate locations. All these
boxes must be further investigated when trying to read a licence plate.
The second image shows a plausible area of interest for the given situation.
The third image shows remaining potential plate locations when an area of
interest has been set. As can be seen, only 2 potential plate areas remain.
As a result less potential plate locations have to be further investigated,
resulting in a performance improvement.
